Hey fellow readers!  This post is to give a heads up for anyone in the DC area looking for some free financial advice.  I have been asked to be apart of the CAAB Moneywise Financial Empowerment Tour.  I have been a volunteer financial educator for Capital Asset Area Builders (CAAB) for the last 2 years.  I give a 5-week financial literacy course, called Money Management 101.


What is CAAB Moneywise Financial Empowerment Tour?


This event is a national financial literacy partnership of Consumer Action and Capital One, is the first program of its kind to combine free, multilingual financial education materials, curricula and teaching aids with regional meetings and roundtables to train community-based organization staff so that consumers at all income levels and walks of life can be reached.


What’s in it for you?


The event will include high level speakers from the public, corporate, and faith-based communities, dynamic music performances, panel discussions on a broad range of cutting-edge topics, PLUS FREE credit reports, one-on-one credit coaching, financial planning, health and wellness demonstrations, a Kidpreneur exhibit, and prizes.

This event is FREE and includes FREE lunch and FREE parking

  • It sounds like a great program for the community. I hope you garner a lot of interest and are able to help the participants. Although I haven't heard Marie Johns speak, another administrator from the SBA spoke at a business conference put on by an organization that I am affiliated with. He was a wealth of information. Hopefully, with your line up, this conference will be a similar experience.

    The conference was amazing! I was so tired afterwards from information overload. The best part?? Networking! For a young guy who has yet to truly establish himself in the financial service arena in D.C. This was a good chance to build my network.
